Rich is a co-founder of The Performance Trust Companies, LLC. Prior to co-founding the Performance Trust Companies, LLC, in 1994, Rich was a Managing Director with Clayton Brown & Associates, Inc. He has been a featured speaker for numerous banking, insurance and professional associations throughout the United States on the topic of fixed income investing, as well as one of the original faculty members of
Bond Math University® (formerly known as Bond Training Camp®).
Rich received his BS in Mathematics from Wheaton College in 1980 and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Philip M. Nussbaum

Phil is one of the founding members and partners of The Performance Trust Companies, LLC. His passion is to help bond portfolio managers outperform by applying a disciplined, well - quantified risk/reward decision-making process. He has been a featured speaker and writer on the topic of bank investment portfolio management and regulation for numerous banking programs and seminars around the country. Currently, he leads the Analytics Group at Performance Trust.
Prior to joining Performance Trust in 1994, Phil was a Vice President at Clayton Brown & Associates, where he also served as the managing editor of The Bank Portfolio Manager®. Before that, he was a senior examiner with the Financial Markets Unit of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where he specialized in bank investment portfolios, asset/liability management, and off-balance sheet derivative trading.
Phil serves as a Trustee of PowerShares Exchanged-Traded-Funds since the fund’s inception in May of 2003. He currently chairs the fund’s Audit Committee. PowerShares' assets under management now exceed $5 billion.
Phil graduated with high honors from Wheaton College with a BS in Mathematics. He received his MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.

James H. Matson

Jim has been with the Performance Trust Companies since January of 2005.
Prior to joining Performance Trust, Jim spent nearly 12 years with a Chicago-based fixed-income broker, Griffin, Kubik, Stephens & Thompson as a Senior Vice President and Sales Manager. He was also head of the Portfolio Analytics Group at the firm and served on the Management and Operating Committees. In the late 80s and early 90s, Jim was President and General Manager of Combus, Inc, a business computer firm in the Chicago area.
Jim received his BA in Economics from Wheaton College in 1984 and his MBA in Finance and Management from Loyola University Chicago in 2000.

Craig S. Johnson

Craig combines his roles as a leading CMO trader, an expert in the disciplines of Shape Management® and the trading desk manager to lead the team in its shape generation effort for each Level Playing Field® event. Since joining the firm in 1998, Craig has served as an account representative, a municipal bond trader and underwriter, a CMO and mortgage trader and a
Bond Math University® and Advanced Course® speaker. He has also presented to FED, FDIC, OCC and NCUA regulators on investing, at the request of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC).
Prior to joining Performance Trust Capital Partners, LLC, Craig was the head bank-qualified municipal bond trader and underwriter for Dain Bosworth in Chicago. He is a graduate of Concordia College and a native of Minneapolis.

Jason A. Elder

Jason joined Performance Trust Investment Advisors, LLC in 1994, the new firm’s first year. Jason has developed innovative methods of educating investors at all levels from Board members and Directors to individual Portfolio Managers. Jason has been especially successful at teaching others how to communicate fixed-income principles within their organizations in a way that elicits change and has taught
Bond Math University® for the OCC. Jason has a Masters degree in business with a concentration in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago. He has undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and English from Kansas University.

Christopher J. Carney

Chris has been a part of the Performance Trust Companies team since its inception in 1994. Since then, he has worked to develop innovative methods of educating investors at all levels, from Board Members and Directors to individual Portfolio Managers. Chris serves as a contributing editor for the Bank Portfolio Manager® and Disciplined Investor®. He has also developed some of the final segments of the
Bond Math University® curriculum.
Prior to joining The Performance Trust Companies, Chris held a position in the Portfolio Analytics Group at Clayton Brown and Associates, an investment banking firm in Chicago. Prior to that, he was the CEO of International Trade Group, Inc., where he introduced US companies to South America and The Far East over the course of his five-year tenure. He has been recognized for his entrepreneurial achievements in the Miami Herald, Wisconsin Capital Times, The Kansan and other publications. Chris holds a BA degree in Philosophy and History from University of Kansas.

Kurt A. Fritz

Kurt is Vice President and Sales Manager of the Performance Trust Companies. Among his many duties, Kurt is a key presenter and developer of the curriculum at
Bond Math University®. Kurt has been a featured writer for the Bank Portfolio Manager® and Disciplined Investor® publications.
Prior to joining The Performance Trust Companies, Kurt spent five years at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as an Options Trader. This experience of valuing and trading options has been invaluable in his analysis of the complex securities with embedded options that are available in the marketplace today. Kurt has also been involved in the Trading, Analytics and Management Teams at Performance Trust. This knowledge and experience has allowed Kurt to help bankers and other financial institutions around the country make better risk/reward decisions in the area of fixed income investing. Kurt has been an invited speaker to numerous banking, insurance and credit union groups and most recently added the OCC to his list.
